Communication & Self-
Regulation For Teens
This program is designed to help participants build communication competence by strengthening self-regulation, awareness, and social interaction in a supportive group environment. Groups are intentionally kept small (4–6 teens) to create community and allow for practice, feedback, and peer modeling.
What makes this group unique is the integration of mindfulness-based strategies (MBSR) and clinical hypnosis techniques within Speech-Language Pathology for the purpose of enhancing executive function and overall communication competence delivered at the level of comfort of the student. . These evidence-informed approaches are used where appropriate, in alignment with communication goals, to help participants:
Increase awareness of their internal state of being and how it informs expression, listening and interpretation.
Develop strategies for self-regulation that support clearer, more confident communication.
Practice social-communication skills in a safe, encouraging community of peers.
Strengthen their ability to express themselves with clarity, confidence, and connection
Strengthen self worth, self confidence and autonomy of self.
By combining structured communication practice with techniques that support attention and regulation, these groups create opportunities for participants to grow in both skills and self-assurance, within the scope of Speech-Language Pathology.
